Charter Bus Overview

Vermont Ski Tours uses transportation providers with modern 56‑passenger motorcoaches designed for group comfort and reliable winter travel. These coaches provide roomy reclining seats, generous under‑floor luggage bays for skis and gear, onboard climate control, and restroom facilities—features that keep groups comfortable on the road and simplify logistics for trip leaders.

Coach Amenities and Passenger Comfort

  • Seating and space — roomy, reclining seats with armrests and footrests that make multi‑hour drives restful.
  • Luggage and ski storage — large undercarriage bays accommodate skis, boots, and luggage in organized compartments.
  • Onboard conveniences — restroom, overhead storage, and climate control; many coaches also offer Wi‑Fi and media systems for group announcements and entertainment.
  • Accessibility — coaches can be arranged to accommodate mobility needs and safe boarding for passengers who require assistance.

Professional Drivers and Safety Practices

  • Experienced winter drivers — drivers are experienced in mountain and winter driving techniques, including handling on icy roads, managing steep grades, and safe convoy procedures.
  • Regulatory compliance — drivers follow federal and state safety rules, including hours‑of‑service limits, pre‑trip inspections, and required certifications.
  • Background checks and training — reputable operators screen drivers, maintain ongoing training, and enforce professional conduct standards for passenger safety and comfort.
  • Preventive maintenance — coaches undergo scheduled mechanical inspections, tire and brake checks, and winterization (antifreeze, heating systems, and emergency equipment) before each season.

Benefits of Using a Reputable Bus Company

  • Reliability — professional operators maintain spare equipment and contingency plans so trips run on schedule even when weather or mechanical issues arise.
  • 24 hour operational support — experienced bus companies provide back-up support, route planning, GPS tracking, real‑time communications, and coordinated pickup/drop‑off logistics that simplify group management.
  • Liability and insurance — established carriers carry commercial insurance and meet regulatory safety standards, reducing risk for group organizers.
  • Passenger experience — courteous, uniformed drivers and clean, well‑maintained coaches create a positive first impression and a comfortable travel experience for skiers of all ages.

Commercial Driver Hours & Safety Requirements

All Vermont Ski Tours charter trips operate under federal Department of Transportation (DOT) safety regulations, which strictly limit how many hours a commercial driver may be on duty. These rules exist to protect passengers, especially during winter travel in the mountains.

  • Drivers may only drive a set number of hours per day under DOT law.
  • Every driver must have a minimum of 8 consecutive hours off duty each night before beginning the next day’s shift.
  • If a trip is delayed due to weather, traffic, road closures, or resort conditions, the driver’s required rest period may push back the next morning’s departure time.

**These rules are not optional—they are federal safety mandates designed to prevent fatigue and ensure safe winter driving.**

Because VST works only with reputable, fully compliant motorcoach companies, our drivers follow these regulations exactly as written.  VST’s long‑standing partnerships with professional carriers ensure that your group travels with drivers who are well‑rested, fully certified, and legally compliant, even when weather or traffic forces schedule adjustments.

This is one of the key reasons VST has maintained a strong 50+‑year safety record and continues to be trusted by schools, youth groups, and adult organizations throughout the Mid‑Atlantic.

Alcohol Policy for All Vermont Ski Tours Trips

 Youth Groups (Schools, Youth Organizations)

  • No alcohol is permitted on the bus at any time.
  • Chaperones are responsible for enforcing a zero‑tolerance policy.
  • Any violation may result in removal from the trip without refund and notification of the group leader.

Adult Groups / Open Bus Trips

Alcohol is permitted only for passengers age 21 and older, and only when consumed responsibly. To maintain safety and comfort for all riders:

  • All passengers consuming alcohol must be 21+.
  • No unsafe or disruptive drinking—behavior that affects safety, comfort, or the driver’s ability to operate the coach will not be tolerated.
  • No large coolers or tailgate‑style setups. Coolers must be small enough to fit under the seat; aisles must remain completely clear at all times.
  • No central sources of alcohol such as kegs, bulk containers, or shared dispensers.
  • Glass bottles are strongly discouraged. While not explicitly prohibited, they pose a safety risk on a moving bus and may be restricted by the driver.
  • The driver and VST escort have full authority to restrict alcohol if behavior becomes unsafe or disruptive.

Safety & Compliance

These policies exist to protect passengers, maintain a clean and safe environment, and ensure compliance with transportation regulations. Drivers must be able to operate without distraction, and aisles must remain clear for emergency access. Groups that fail to follow alcohol rules may face delays, removal from the bus, or additional cleaning/damage fees.
